Dr. Dimitrios Rakopoulos

Title: Energy transition and its impact on power systems: The European paradigm, challenges and solutions
Dr. Dimitrios Rakopoulos, born in 1980, obtained his Diploma (2002) and Ph.D. degree (2007) in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. Currently he is a Senior Researcher with the Chemical Process & Energy Resources Institute (CPERI) of Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), Greece, and a Research Associate with the Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) Laboratory and the Laboratory of Steam Boilers & Thermal Plants (LSBTP) of the School of Mechanical Engineering of NTUA. In addition to his large research experience (participation in 41 Research Projects of 10.50 m€ total budget for his Entities; Principal Investigator in 14 of them with 3.78 m€ total budget for his Entities; Coordinator in 2 of them with 18 and 8 International partners and 9 and 4 m€ total budget respectively), he has also wide industrial and managerial experience in non-academic environment, both in the Public sector (Public Power Corporation S.A., Ministry of Environment and Energy) and the Private sector (freelance Mechanical Engineer since 2002 in several energy projects on Wind Farms interconnection to the Grid, biogas exploitation for Cogeneration, hybrid PVs, etc.). His research interests include: Diesel engines, power plants, CHP, District Heating, RES technologies and novel energy systems, Smart Grids, Smart Cities and propulsion engines in marine applications. His scientific record comprises: Top 1% Highly Cited Researchers & World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds for 6 consecutive years (2015 – 2020) by Thomson Reuters (now Clarivate Analytics); Top 0.5% Highly Cited Researcher (career) for the last 5 consecutive years (2020 – 2024) by Elsevier-Scopus; World Highly Ranked 0.42% Scholar (1st in ‘Diesel Fuel’ and 4th in ‘Diesel Engine’ Specialties) by ScholarGPS (META Analytics); 116 refereed-papers in International Indexed Scientific Journals and 30 in International Conferences with full paper peer-review; over 9000 citations according to Scopus, with H-index=47; Associate Editor or Editorial Board Member in 7 International Indexed Scientific Journals and Guest co-Editor in 6 Special Issues; 1 Associate Editor Award; Organizing Committee member in 3 International Conferences and Scientific Committee member in 17 International Conferences; Reviewer in numerous International Scientific Indexed Journals and Conferences; 6 Outstanding Reviewer Awards.

Prof. Meng NI

Title: Development of high performance and durable solid oxide fuel cells for clean power generation
Professor Meng Ni is a Chair Professor of Energy Science and Technology, Head of Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering, Associate Dean (Research) of Faculty of Construction and Environment, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is a Fellow of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Humboldt Fellow, RGC Senior Research Fellow. His research interest covers high temperature fuel cells and electrolyzers and rechargeable batteries. His publications have received 30,000 citations and his current H-index is 76 (Web of Science). He is a co-editor-in-chief of Energy Reviews (Elsevier), a Senior Editor of Sustainable Energy Technologies and Assessments (Elsevier) and an Associate Editor for 4 journals. Prof. Meng Ni is an active reviewer for over 80 journals including Science, Nature Energy, Nature Communications, Joule, Advanced Materials, etc.
Prof. Ir Suzana Yusup

Title: Progress and Potential of Clean and Green Energy in Science, Technology and Innovation Ecosystem
Professor Suzana is a Professor at School of Engineering, Sunway University and the Deputy Dean (Research and Sustainability), Faculty of Engineering and Technology. She is a registered Professional Engineer (BEM), Charted Engineer, and Charted Scientist (ICHEM). She is a Fellow of Academy Sciences Malaysia (Engineering Science), Fellow of Forum International Bioprocessing Association, Senior Fellow Researcher Resilience Development Initiative Indonesia, (Renewable Energy and Emission Reduction). She is recognised for her research in biomass conversion to biofuels and biobased products, green technology, and sustainable energy. She led collaborative research at national and international levels and involved in industries consultancies. Her research work gained recognitions with over three hundred publications and multiple patents granted and ranked world top 2% scientist (Elsevier) under Energy & Biotechnology and Enabling & Strategic Technologies. Among recognition received including the Top Research Scientist Malaysia 2016, Malaysia’s Rising Star Award 2016, Malaysia Research Star Award 2017, 2019, Private Education Excellence Award 2018, Asia Research Award 2012, and Elsevier Green Chemistry Challenge (2016). She is passionate in developing sustainable, green solutions through education and innovations for benefits of community and industries.

Prof. Fei Wei

Title: One Step CO2 Hydrogenation to Drop-in Sustainabile Aviation Fuel
Director of Beijing key lab of green chemical reaction engineering and technology, Fei Wei obtained his PhD in chemical engineering from China University of Petroleum in 1990. After a postdoctoral fellowship at Tsinghua University (China), he was appointed an associate professor in 1992 and professor of chemical engineering of Tsinghua University (China) in 1996. His scientific interests are technological applications of chemical reaction engineering, catalysis, multiphase flow, carbon nano materials, and sustainable energy. He has designed and successfully running over 30 industrial fluidized bed reactors, and authored four books and over 600 refereed publications including 4 papers in Science and Nature, with more than 67000 citations with H index 116.

Prof. Volodymyr A. YARTYS

Prof. Volodymyr A. Yartys (Ph.D. (Moscow University, 1980); D.Sc. (Lviv University, 1994); Professor in Inorganic Chemistry (1998)) is Professor Emeritus at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and at Institute for Energy Technology (Norway). He is Professor of Materials Science and Hydrogen Technologies. Prof. V.A. Yartys is an expert in hydrogen-based energy storage working on (a) Nanomaterials for energy storage; (b) Rechargeable Batteries; (c) Hydrogen as an Energy Carrier; (d) New Materials for H Storage and Battery Applications. He is the Editor of Journal of Alloys and Compounds and International Journal of Hydrogen Energy. Prof. Yartys is an author of more than 500 publications, including >250 papers in peer reviewed academic journals, 5 patents, and 3 books. V.A. Yartys has an h-index of 61. Prof. Jonathan W.C. Wong

Title: Waste Biomass Resource for Circular Economy and Renewable Energy.
Jonathan Wong is an Academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher 2024, and a top 2% scientist in biotechnology in Stanford University Ranking 2024. He is currently a Top Talent Professor and Director of the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Engineering of the Dongguan University of Technology, Professor Emeritus of the Hong Kong Baptist University, Visiting Professor of RMIT University and Murdoch University and Director of the Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre. His research expertise is in the area of solid waste management with specialization in waste bio-circular economy and waste biomass valorization for energy and added value products. He has published over 550 SCI publication and conference proceedings with citation of > 29017 and H-index of 90. Jonathan has been appointed as a member of a number of Government’s advisory committees including the Town Planning Board, Advisory Committee for Northern Metropolis, and Green Tech Fund. He was bestowed with Medal of Honor and Bronze Bauhinia Star by the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region respectively in 2011 and 2022 for his service and contribution to the Hong Kong environment and appointed as Justice of Peace in 2013.
